Raising Cane in Victory - The War on Christmas

Announcing the drop of the fifth design in The Great Big War on Christmas Design Drive of 2021! Raising Cane in Victory is one of two versions currently developed using the Iwo-Jima/candy-cane motif.

From a purely graphic design perspective, I like this one a lot. All of the elements work together in a balanced and contained way while using a palette that feels a little classy. It's a palette that would transfer well to a tuxedo. Conceptually, though, this one is difficult. Because I made it and I know I made it with irony, that's how I would like it to be interpreted. I have the feeling, though, that of all the War on Christmas designs I have made for this drive, this one could legitimately be viewed and used unironically. This is an example of Poe's law, "an adage of Internet culture stating that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, every parody of extreme views can be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of the views being parodied.[1][2][3]."

At present, this design is only available on a black shirt; all the black values are transparent (no ink), so it looks right only on a black background. There will be a version soon that works on any colour of shirt.

One way or another, I think it looks good, enough so that I recently ordered it on a print-all-over hoody from HugePOD as a test run for their quality and service. $30 CDN, including delivery - cheap. We shall see.

As with all of the designs in this series, Raising Cane in Victory can be found applied to a wide variety of clothing and household items over at my store at Redbubble. I may put together a tank top and leggings using Zazzle, time permitting.
